Season
The heat of summer is upon the lands and it shows no mercy.

Weather
Incredibly hot, the waters are much more shallow than they have ever been in the past. The only cool area is in the maze of underground tunnels.

About the Boards
Ailis is a forum for artists of all sorts. Not only do we offer critique boards for writing, drawing, etc, we also have an elaborate system of roleplaying for you fanciers of writing. You can feel free to roleplay nearly anything on these boards as this is a fantasy forum, however, it's medieval, I'm not a fan of modern fantasy. We're incredibly new and slowly growing in numbers. If you would like to join go ahead and register. The only board you can post on is the advertisement board until you become registered. But you may view the rules before you join. So start signing up!
:The Specifics of the lands:
The heat varies from place to place on the Ailis lands. It is of course cooler than most areas near the lake while in the dense forests it is extremely hot and humid. Many of the creatures in the forest area will be flocking to The Ribbon (the river). Beneath the grounds in the darkness of the tunnels, however, the heat is nowhere to be found. It is cool and dank, many critters this summer won't mind the dismal and melancholy feeling of the tunnels as they will be seeking the chilled air down there, a coolness not found on the main grounds.
This summer will be especially dangerous, the temperatures are much higher than the past summers and these extreme heats cause severe shortages of water. The lake is at the very minimum of its holding capacity and many fish have dried up from the shallowness. Even The Ribbon has reached an all time low, throughout the river's route there are dried up mud banks and only puddles of water spread randomly over the once called river's path.
With the lack of water, the predator prey ratio will be out of whack, the prey will be at an all time low causing famine throughout the terrain, fights over food will be more common, even if it's just over a bone.

If you give advice, please be intelligent about it, don't just say "I like the pretty blue (or whatever)..."

Or if it's in response to a written piece, don't say something like, "It's good... I like it..." Please tell the author why you like it.

The Roleplay
[ ]The Plains
Tall grasses flood the terrain, creating an emerald ocean that covers much of the lands. Wild flowers sprout just about every where and the soil is dark and fertile. The tall grasses can act as a cover to hide you from predators or prey. There are few trees, however, and the ones that do grow in the fields are thin and not very tall. They're only good for creating shade with their thick branches and leaves.

[ ]Lake of Tears
To the south of the plains and mountains is a large lake that lies beneath the plains' plateau. From the plateau there is a winding pathway that will take you down to the body of water. The Lake of Tears earned its name after an old folk tale. It is said that a female dragon's kin were killed by werewolf. After this she began to cry so much that her tears created a lake that would be able to easily transport the lost souls of her babies to the west side of the lake. It is also said that if a soul makes the journey to the west of the lake, they will find the "otherside" and otherwise be complete through their death and be eternally happy. Also, a large stream sprouts from the north side of this lake, it coils over most of the land and winds its way through the mountains. It makes it's way up once reaching the mountains for some time before it levels out once more and leads to a large waterfall that pours into a spring.

[ ]The Forests
To the east of the plains there is a large, daunting forest. The trees grow high into the sky and the canopy is thick, allowing little or no light to seep through and lighten the floors of the woods. The undergrowth is thick and there are many chances of you finding yourself in thorns as you travel here. The forest is a beautiful danger to all those who reside here. Its gentle glow casts a melancholy feeling over the terrain but its beauty can convince you out of its possible dangers. Evil creatures loom here, in the dark clutches of the shadows they are always watching.

[ ]The Mountains
Bordering the vast plains to the north is a range of mountains that sprout from the terrain. The peaks grow past the clouds, it seems as though they force themselves to stop growing or they would reach space. Many pathways are in the mountain ranges but they are hard to navigate through and are very cold once you reach a certain altitude. It is hard for many creatures to enter or leave the lands of Ailis.

[ ]Mountain Springs
Cradled between two mountains there is a secret path that leads you to a fresh water spring. It is a refreshing pool to relax in, in the summer. A raging water fall flows into it from the stream that comes from the south and trails around the mountain ranges. Behind the falls is a hole in the mountains and it will lead you to a secret hideaway in the underground tunnels.

[ ]Underground Passages
There is a large cave in the center of the forest that slowly leads underground. Once underground many paths appear before you, each pathway leads you somewhere else and many of them just lead to different dead ends. The few paths that do lead somewhere, however, each lead you to a specific place, one leads to the Lake of Tears, where there is a large hole hidden by a few large boulders. Another path takes you to the plains, next to a small savanna tree. Another path takes you to the spring in the mountains. It comes up through the secret hideaway behind the waterfall. Then, the final "correct" path leads you behind the mountains into unknown territory. As you follow different paths underground, you'll find many bones from other creatures that went into the passages and didn't find their way out. If you are to stumble upon the underground passageways, the best way to get out is to be methodical about it, take your time and carefully choose your paths. Otherwise you risk the chance of being stuck down there forever.
